It is the most famous Italian city worldwide, even though only a few know its true essence and, by its very nature, creates a lasting impression for visitors. It is an exceptional mixture of different architectural styles and it is the location of La Biennale of Art and Architecture, tens of museums, art galleries and of the most noticeable works of the Italian architect Carlo Scarpa. Unchanged and unique, it keeps welcoming new interventions in contemporary architecture with extreme simplicity. It seems to hide during the night and, in order to experience its most authentic charm, untouched by mass tourism, you need the help of the locals. Strolling through Venice, it does not matter what direction you follow, which alley, bridge or “campiello” you take, you will always end up in the heart of the Laguna: Piazza San Marco.
